BELMONT, CALIF. - October 16, 2007 - FaceTime
Communications, a leading provider of solutions that control
greynets and manage unified communications in the enterprise, today
announced it has attained Gold Certified Partner status in the
Microsoft Partner Program, and that its suite of management
security and compliance products supports the new Microsoft Office
Communications Server 2007. Microsoft Gold Certified Partners
receive a rich set of benefits, including access, training and
support, giving them a competitive advantage in the
marketplace.
According to a study conducted by NewDiligence Market Research
and released today by FaceTime, users in 74 percent of
organizations that have deployed enterprise instant messaging or
unified communications applications such as Microsoft Office
Communicator 2007 continue to use public IM. This continued use of
rogue IM applications such as AOL instant messenger, GoogleTalk,
MSN Messenger, Skype and Yahoo! Instant Messenger creates a
heterogeneous environment requiring IT administrators to maintain a
single point of control for security and compliance policies
implemented across both sanctioned enterprise-class and consumer IM
and unified communications applications.
Through FaceTime's continued support of both Microsoft Office
Live Communications Server 2005 and the new Office Communications
Server 2007, enterprise organizations can be assured of enhanced
security and management of all of their real-time communications,
including instant messages delivered over federated public IM
clients. FaceTime offers a highly scalable, API-based architecture
that is integrated with Office Communications Server 2007 and
extensible to other communications modalities including Voice over
IP and Web conferencing, for example, in addition to instant
messaging. This in-depth integration insures that, even in the
event of a server failure, policies are enforced and messages
continue to be archived for compliance and audit purposes,
protecting an organization across the entire continuum of public IM
and Unified Communications applications.
"Consumer-oriented public IM, chat and P2P applications are
finding legitimate use within organizations, which has driven many
customers to implement unified communications suites such as Office
Communications Server 2007," said Frank Cabri, vice president of
marketing and product development at FaceTime. "However, the
continued presence of these greynets poses myriad network and
information security risks because they provide vectors for
malware, intellectual property loss, identity theft and compliance
risks. It is an ongoing challenge for IT administrators to gain
visibility and control over the evasive greynets that employees
bring into the network. FaceTime provides the means to ensure the
safe and productive use of Unified Communications, alongside
consumer-oriented greynets in the enterprise."
"FaceTime adds an extra line of defense against malware and
information leakage, as well as ensures messages are archived and
can easily be retrieved according to corporate and government
regulatory requirements," said Kim Akers, general manager Unified
Communications Group, at Microsoft Corp. "And for those
organizations that choose to control the use of consumer IM
applications, FaceTime provides an easy, enterprise-grade solution
for implementing enterprise-wide policies across many different
communications vectors."
