FOSTER CITY, CALIF - April 4, 2006 - FaceTime
Communications, the leading provider of solutions for securing IM,
P2P and spyware greynets, today announced the next version of
FaceTime Enterprise Edition with IMAuditor 7.0, a proven solution
used by many of the world's largest firms to manage, secure and
control greynet applications. Among the enhancements in FaceTime
Enterprise Edition are broader support for IM including Skype 2.0,
WebEx support for logging and archival of chat sessions within a
web meeting, and enhanced reporting for multiple public and
enterprise instant messaging solutions including Microsoft Live
Communications Server, IBM Lotus SameTime, Reuters, Parlano, and
Jabber. "The adoption of instant messaging applications and their
rapid convergence with P2P, VoIP and Web conferencing technologies
can expose organizations to significant business risks," said
Robert Mahowald, IDC Program Director for Collaborative Computing.
"As a market leader, FaceTime has combined best-of-breed products,
comprehensive threat research and a differentiated vision that has
benefited enterprises by allowing them to enable and secure these
collaborative applications." "Allowing users uncontrolled access to
public IM networks exposes our organization to IM-borne worms and
the potential for company confidential information to be
compromised," said Rex Voorheis, Senior Manager of Network
Infrastructure for Crowe Chizek and Company LLC. "FaceTime
Enterprise Edition provides the security and compliance for all our
instant messaging communications internally and with our clients."
IM, P2P and spyware applications are part of a category of
networked applications that FaceTime calls 'greynets.' Greynets are
network-enabled applications that are installed on an end user's
system without permission from IT and are highly evasive to
existing security infrastructure. With FaceTime Enterprise Edition,
organizations are able to prevent inbound worm and virus threats,
stop intentional or unintentional information leakage and maintain
compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements when using
public IM, enterprise IM and P2P applications. Web conferencing
application vendors are integrating instant messaging to deliver a
unified interface for communication and collaboration. Leading Web
conferencing provider WebEx has an optional integrated chat service
within its conferencing platform. FaceTime has partnered with WebEx
to deliver logging and archiving of chat sessions so that customers
are able to maintain control and compliance over WebEx
conferencing. "Enterprise organizations are increasingly interested
in solutions that align with corporate and regulatory compliance
requirements," said David Knight, vice president of product
management, WebEx. "We're pleased to be working with FaceTime to
deliver a premier solution for Web collaboration that meets both
the users' need to share information and the IT staff's
requirements to log and archive that information." "FaceTime
Enterprise Edition demonstrates our commitment to furthering our
leadership in instant messaging security and compliance solutions,"
said Kailash Ambwani, president and CEO of FaceTime Communications.
"With the integrated support for Skype and WebEx, we allow our
customers the ability to embrace new communications tools that meet
their business needs while giving them the peace of mind that comes
from securing, controlling and logging them." FaceTime Enterprise
Edition enables Defense-in-Depth by creating a framework for
authorized access to IM services outside the perimeter, coupled
with a mechanism for detecting and preventing rogue or unauthorized
access. The result is comprehensive protection without compromise
on cost, performance or operational considerations. By implementing
FaceTime Enterprise Edition, organizations are able to create an
environment in which the use of greynet applications can benefit
the business without endangering it, enabling legitimate use while
preventing unwanted use. The recent winner of SC Magazine's "Best
IM Security" award for 2006, FaceTime Enterprise Edition integrates
new capabilities based on the FaceTime IMAuditor 7™ platform , a
full-featured IM proxy to secure and manage all IM use, and
RTGuardian (RTG) to enforce enterprise IM standardization, stop
rogue use of unwanted IM and P2P applications, and prevent spyware
at the Internet gateway. New capabilities of FaceTime Enterprise
Edition include:
- Administrator Dashboards - Role-based dashboards in
IMAuditor 7 provide a snapshot of key traffic and configuration
information to administrators and reviewers, allowing them to
monitor operations and easily drill down for further details.
- Enhanced Visibility and Reporting - Enables
organizations more detailed visibility with several new security
reports for SpIM, Day Zero URL blocking and Restricted Phrase
filters. Allows creation of customer reports in either table or
chart formats, and also enables scheduled delivery of reports in
HTML and .PDF formats.
- New User Interface (UI) - All Enterprise Edition
components now share a consistent UI with special emphasis on
usability and ease of navigation. The user interface has been
designed to anticipate common user actions and provide logical
groups of related operations to help administrators accomplish
their tasks more effectively and in less time.
- WebEx Support - Ensures compliance by logging and
archiving integrated WebEx chat sessions using existing messaging
archiving solutions.
- Skype 2.0 and QQ Support - Utilizes behavioral-based
detections of session behavior and other attributes to allow
enterprises to control and enforce policy on the latest versions of
Skype and QQ communications.
- Anti-virus Scanning - Adds support for Computer
Associates eTrust to the list of supported third-party products for
virus scanning of IM-based file attachments.
