FaceTime Announces IMAuditor™ with Fully Integrated Automated Protection from Malware and SpIM

Content, URL and Anti-SPIM Updates from IMPact Center Automatically Pushed To IMAuditor Customers for Immediate Protection of Emerging IM and P2P Threats

FOSTER CITY, CALIF - April 26, 2005 - FaceTime Communications, the leading provider of solutions that secure, manage and extend instant messaging (IM) and peer-to-peer (P2P) applications, today announced IMAuditor 6.5 featuring full integration with FaceTime's IMPact (IM and P2P Activity) Center including, i) daily updates of the IMPact Index with e-mail alerts to IT administrators if the Index rises above a configurable level, ii) automatic updates of IMPact Alerts with full descriptions of known threats and iii) automatic updates to IMAuditor's content filtering lexicon to block worms and spIM (SPAM over the IM network). FaceTime recently launched its IMPact initiative in order to meet the expanding scope and over 400% rise of IM and P2P threats. The IMPact team, based in Foster City, Calif. and Bangalore, India, researches and aggregates new IM and P2P protocols and threats and publishes IMPact Alerts, daily e-mails describing new worms and viruses circulating over IM and P2P; the online IMPact Center at www.facetime.com/impactcenter; and the IMPact Index, an aggregated snapshot of the current threat level in IM and P2P networks. Today's IMPact Index is 3. With IMAuditor 6.5, administrators can elect to have the content and alerts generated by FaceTime's IMPact team pushed directly to their IMAuditor servers enabling automatic and immediate protection from emerging threats. "By automatically integrating our IMPact research into IMAuditor 6.5, FaceTime is taking the next step in its comprehensive plan to thwart emerging IM and P2P threats," said Jonathan Christensen, FaceTime Chief Technology Officer. "By automating this functionality we provide a threat free IM environment enabling our customers to safely and securely reap the benefits of IM use in the workplace." "Enterprises are rapidly embracing IM as a key communication tool and as such, so have the hackers and fraudsters," said Peter Christy, Principal, Internet Research Group. With FaceTime's industry leadership in IM management systems and their IMPact Center - a centralized and up-to-date repository of industry threats - FaceTime's IMAuditor is uniquely positioned to provide customers with comprehensive protection from increasingly dangerous threats." FaceTime IMAuditor 6.5 will be available this summer. Existing customers of IMAuditor will receive 6.5 as part of their maintenance agreements.
