FOSTER CITY, CALIF. - February 15, 2005 -
Furthering its leadership as the premier provider of solutions that
secure, manage, and extend instant messaging (IM) and peer-to-peer
(P2P) applications, FaceTime today announced an agreement with
Sendmail, Inc., a global provider of email security infrastructure,
to offer a comprehensive messaging security and policy creation and
enforcement solution for email and IM. With complementary products
and respective leadership in delivering solutions to enterprises,
particularly in the financial services industry, this agreement is
a natural fit for both companies. With over 500 customers,
including half of the world's 100 largest financial services
institutions and four of the five largest banks, FaceTime has the
deepest market penetration of paid-for seat licenses of any IM
gateway provider. Likewise, Sendmail has thorough market traction
in the large enterprise market, including financial services. More
than half of the world's largest enterprises, including seven of
Fortune's top 10 companies, are included in the company's customer
base of over 4,500 companies worldwide. The two companies share
most of the top banks as messaging customers. Joint FaceTime and
Sendmail customers will get IM and email anti-virus capabilities,
protection from spam and spim (spam sent over IM networks),
scanning and blocking of questionable attachments sent via IM and
email, and the ability to configure complex rules for messages
based on specific business requirements. "With the growth of
e-communications threats on the network, our customers are
demanding both IM and email security and management," said John
Stormer, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Sendmail,
Inc. "FaceTime is a leader in IM security and therefore an ideal
partner to meet the evolving requirements of our current and future
customers." "Our partner ecosystem consists of the leading IM
network providers, storage vendors and security companies," said
Christopher Dean, senior vice president of business development at
FaceTime Communications. "Sendmail's leadership in security further
enhances FaceTime's focus on protecting organizations against a
growing number of security threats."
