Press Release

Majority of AOL Instant Messenger Enterprise Gateway Customers Choose FaceTime

FaceTime Extends Free Upgrade Offer to IMLogic and Akonix Customers

FOSTER CITY, Calif., August 31, 2004 - FaceTime Communications, the leading provider of solutions that secure, manage, and extend instant messaging (IM) and peer-to-peer (P2P) applications, today announced the majority of AOL Instant Messenger Enterprise Gateway (AIM-EG) customers have chosen FaceTime IMAuditor for secure and regulatory compliant IM. FaceTime, which developed the technology that powers AIM-EG, found customers eager to retain the code base shared by IMAuditor and AIM-EG. "The upgrade from AIM-EG 2.0 to FaceTime IMAuditor 5.0 was simple and flawless," said Chris Christian, senior network engineer, Ziegler Companies. "I was able to do a complete upgrade in less than two hours, and the changeover was invisible to the users." He went on to say, "The documentation is well-written, easy to understand and details the steps required both in preparation and deployment. I found the entire process much more efficient and reliable than IMLogic's product." Due to overwhelming response, FaceTime has reiterated its free upgrade offer to all remaining AIM-EG customers as well as to customers of other certified AOL partners, including Akonix and IMLogic. FaceTime will continue to support AIM-EG customers until they are ready to migrate to an alternate solution. "The shift in the enterprise strategies of several IM networks has left many corporate IM customers wondering where to turn," said Matt Cain, senior vice president at META Group, a leading provider of IT research, advisory services and strategic consulting. "When selecting a provider of secure enterprise IM, it is important to carefully evaluate the vendor's history in enterprise IM, its technological strength, and position in the marketplace." FaceTime's offer to upgrade AIM-EG and other customers of AOL-certified vendors includes:

  • Free upgrade to IMAuditor 5.0, the market-leading IM security, compliance and management solution;
  • Free technical support for ease of transition;
  • Free license to FaceTime's upcoming RTMatrix™ with embedded APIs and SDKs to extend multi-network IM and presence capabilities;
  • Preferred pricing on RTG500™, FaceTime's unique perimeter security appliance for blocking unauthorized use of IM and P2P;
  • Free migration services to IMAuditor.

By deploying IMAuditor, users of AIM-EG and other AOL-certified IM management solutions gain support of all the major networks with the added assurance of working with the same IM security and compliance leader they trust and have always relied on. FaceTime is the only IM vendor to offer:

  • Guaranteed compliance - due to the two-tier 'Defense-in-Depth' architecture, which provides both i) enablement: IM user policy management and ii) blocking: network security against rogue IM and P2P usage;
  • Guaranteed P2P blocking - due to the deep packet inspection and protocol analysis architecture of RTG500;
  • OS independence and multi-platform support;
  • Native EIM protocol support in full proxy mode;
  • The highest EIM scalability in the industry as determined by independent testing and certification center, KeyLabs;
  • Support for enterprise-class infrastructure such as Oracle and SQL databases, EMC, Legato and VERITAS storage solutions;
  • Consistent real-time content filtering and blocking;
  • Dynamic anti-spam filtering through a patent pending challenge-response mechanism;
  • Next-generation IM, P2P and VoIP blocking;
  • Non-repudiation, anti-tamper archiving for "true" compliance.

"FaceTime Communications has experienced tremendous momentum from its initial offer," said Kailash Ambwani, president and CEO of FaceTime Communications. "We aim to build on this success by extending our offer to those customers left without a future upgrade path due to the AIM-EG end-of-life as well as to customers of other gateway solution providers that are unhappy with their experiences thus far." FaceTime customers should contact their sales representative to discuss the discounts that apply when purchasing both IMAuditor and RTG500.
