NCR Selects FaceTime for Managing and Securing Instant Messaging

Leading Technology Company Leverages Productivity of Multi-Network IM Systems with FaceTime's IM Director Solution

FOSTER CITY, Calif., October 6, 2003 -- Furthering its leadership as the premier provider of security, management and control solutions for instant messaging (IM) and other forms of real-time communications in the enterprise, FaceTime Communications today announced that NCR Corporation, a leading worldwide technology company, has chosen FaceTime's IM Director for managing and securing the use of instant messaging within the company. IM Director's enterprise-class security, management and control features give NCR the ability to leverage the power of instant messaging for time-sensitive business communications, while ensuring administrative controls are in place for securing the content of messages between employees and protecting the company network from virus attacks. As a result, NCR can manage IM communications tightly integrated with their current enterprise-based directory services.

"After conducting evaluations of multiple vendor solutions, we selected FaceTime because of their market leadership and flexibility to manage thousands of users on all the networks in use by our employees," said Maury Rindler, collaboration services program director for NCR. "FaceTime's software gives us the needed security and control while helping us manage how we use the public IM networks for communications with business partners outside of NCR's network."

"NCR joins a growing list of non-regulated customers using FaceTime's software to manage instant messaging in the workplace," said Glen D. Vondrick, FaceTime's president and CEO. "This latest customer win is a testament to FaceTime's proven experience in providing the security, management and control necessary for businesses to safely leverage the benefits of multi-network messaging."

IM Director, a highly flexible and scalable next generation server serves as the cornerstone of FaceTime's enterprise IM management suite of security, management and control solutions for real-time communications in the enterprise. With IM Director, IT executives can take a phased approach to the controlled adoption of IM, managing new and emerging usage challenges, including virus attacks and inadvertent dissemination of proprietary company information in a highly scalable, customizable and cost-effective fashion. IM Director offers NCR and other businesses the opportunity to meet the most common requirements for safely securing, managing and deploying instant messaging in the enterprise.
