New York, SIA Technology and Management Conference, June
19th, 2002 -- FaceTime Communications, the premier
provider of network-independent instant messaging (IM) applications
for business, and Reuters, the global information, news and
technology group, today announced a strategic alliance to make
Reuters Messaging compatible with FaceTime's IMAuditor product.
Working together, the two companies will enable Reuters Messaging
clients who are also using other IM networks to meet their
regulatory auditing requirements by content logging messages from
both Reuters Messaging and other IM systems. FaceTime IMAuditor
will record, store and supervise messages generated on Reuters
Messaging and then aggregate them with all other IM communications
in the enterprise. This functionality will give corporate
compliance a single enterprise-wide IM compliance solution while
enabling IT management to gain control of all IM communications
through a single user interface. Reuters Messaging, a new high
security instant messaging (IM) service for the world's financial
services industry, is currently undergoing final testing with
twenty-five global financial services institutions and is due for
launch across the industry in Q3. It will offer institutions access
to a fast, cost effective, encrypted, and firewall-compliant
communications channel covering their entire enterprise and
reaching out to their customers and suppliers across the globe.
Customers using Reuters Messaging as their single solution will be
supported by the auditing and logging capabilities of this service.
" To unlock the potential of IM in the financial services industry,
firms need an open and standards based solution which allows them
to respond to IT and business challenges in real time without
compromising reliability or the ability to meet regulatory
requirements." said Lewis Knopf, Managing Director of Reuters
Collaboration Services. " Our open strategy supports integration
with leading technology suppliers and we are extremely pleased to
be working with FaceTime. The FaceTime IMAuditor solution is fast
becoming a standard IM compliance solution, and together with
Reuters Messaging, it will give our customers enhanced
enterprise-wide control and manageability across all IM network
communications." "FaceTime is excited that the leading provider of
content, technology and connectivity around the world has chosen to
certify IMAuditor with Reuters Messaging," said Glen D. Vondrick,
FaceTime's President and CEO. Reuters Messaging is clearly a key
messaging solution for the financial services industry and
FaceTime's IMAuditor has become the standard for auditing IM use in
the enterprise. Linking IMAuditor with Reuters Messaging, with its
proven ability to log and audit IM communications on any network,
gives Reuter's customers the ability to provide unified compliance
reporting with other IM networks in use within the enterprise and
provides centralized management control of IM communications." As
part of the alliance, Lewis Knopf will join FaceTime's Advisory
Board to further strengthen its strategic vision around instant
messaging and collaboration. FaceTime's unique technology
advantage, IM expertise, and ability to provide customers with
authorized application access and integration to any network,
enables the company to deliver practical, value-add solutions on
multiple IM network infrastructures for any business. FaceTime's
IMAuditor provides IT professionals the confidence and information
security controls to manage public and private IM networks in the
enterprise. The FaceTime IMAuditor includes an easy installation
and configuration process, no change in behavior for users of
existing instant messaging clients and buddy lists, Web-based
reports, and support for existing corporate proxy servers.
