FaceTime Announces Support for Microsoft's .NET Initiative Via
Interoperability with Windows Messenger
Windows Messenger and FaceTime's Instant Message Director Server
Enable Businesses to Manage On-line Presence Detection for Critical
Business Applications
FOSTER CITY, Calif. October 29, 2001 -- FaceTime Communications,
the premier provider of instant messaging (IM) applications for
business, today announced immediate support for Microsoft's Windows
Messenger, available with Windows XP. This enables companies
deploying Windows XP to use Windows Messenger with FaceTime's
family of IM server products for conducting real-time business
communication.
"Due to the explosive consumer adoption of instant messaging,
corporations are now recognizing the tremendous value and power of
applying instant messaging for business," said Blake Irving, Vice
President, Communications Division Personal Systems and Devices
Group, Microsoft Corporation. "FaceTime's interoperability with
Microsoft's Messenger will help lead and expand the adoption of
instant messaging in the enterprise."
FaceTime's Instant Message Director (IMD) products, including
IMAuditor and IM CallCenter, enable corporations to use presence
detection and user identity to enhance their existing corporate
communication infrastructure. With IMD, Windows Messenger users are
able to identify and detect the presence of customers, suppliers,
partners and employees. FaceTime is currently enabling large
financial service institutions and enterprise companies with
distributed call centers to leverage IM for auditing purposes and
real-time business communication.
The FaceTime IMAuditor solution enables firms in the financial
services industry such as securities traders, broker-dealers,
merchant banks and commodity futures dealers, who are subject to
detailed SEC regulations, to monitor and log all instant messaging
communication conducted with Windows Messenger. The FaceTime IM
CallCenter solution integrates with CRM applications allowing
FaceTime's customers to have a record of critical customer
communication. It also provides permission-based capability to save
a consumer's Microsoft Passport identity to existing CRM records so
that the consumer can be contacted via Windows Messenger at a later
time for product updates or further customer service
communication.
"FaceTime was the early pioneer in leveraging the power of MSN
Messenger's real-time communication and presence detection features
in our suite of IM server applications," said Glen Vondrick,
President and CEO of FaceTime Communications. "Our customers rely
upon FaceTime's server technology to interoperate with IM networks
and clients, such as Windows Messenger, to create critical business
applications. FaceTime enthusiastically supports the .Net
initiative as it furthers this promise."
The FaceTime IMD family of products manages all IM traffic, such
as auditing, routing and queuing IM sessions similar to the way an
Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) manages telephone communication.
IMD products support communication to and from Microsoft's new
Windows Messenger, AOL Messenger, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger,
and other proprietary enterprise instant messaging solutions.
FaceTime's IMD family of products provide:
*
Administration Services: auditing, monitoring, and data
warehousing
*
Management Services: enabling access to enterprise workers based
on business rules, online presence, and configuration
management
*
Gateway Services: Detecting presence and extending access over
Public and Enterprise IM networks, telephony systems, e-mail and
other emerging channels and networks
