Leading the Social Charge with Actiance Socialite

Webinar: BYOD & the New Communications Landscape
Now more than ever, it’s critical for legal teams to become technologically astute. Millennials are taking over the workplace and now demand flexible communication platforms to feed their collaboration needs … anytime and anywhere. They have no qualms about downloading access to cloud-based apps for use at the office with the breezy swipe of the finger.   But this trend has a flipside. Organizations are starting to look under the covers and find out the truth about their shadow IT. "Once you get over the shock of the gap, you look at the risk profiles of those services, and that's just downright terrifying," says a leading CIO who recently found over 1,600 cloud communication platforms at play in his organization. This was well above the 50 or so he originally anticipated.   Without knowledge about the technology used across enterprises today, a lawyer can’t effectively navigate the legal and regulatory minefields and avert a potential data disaster. It’s incumbent on the legal profession to take the blinders off and get an accurate sense of the risk that enterprises deal with on a daily basis.   This session will address:   The impact of BYOD and the availability of cloud-based applications New communications beyond email in use at organizations today The new risks stemming from supervisory, recordkeeping and security requirements Emerging technologies and best practices used to manage these risks   Speakers:
James Shook, Esq., Director, EMC Corp., E-Discovery & Compliance Legal Practice Prior to overseeing EMC’s practice, Jim was a litigator and general counsel to two emerging technology companies. Jim is a lawyer-technologist and active member of The Sedona Conference Working Groups on Electronic Document Retention and Production, and on International Issues, as well as a former editor of the EDRM. He publishes and speaks frequently about technology's impact on legal issues.        Kris Vann, Esq., Information Governance Counsel Kris Vann is a former litigator with over 20 years of experience in compliance and legal technology. Communications in the workplace aren’t just about email anymore. Webcast: Native Exchange Archiving: A Paper Tiger

Email remains the single most important business communication today, but look around, and you’ll also see other channels being used to get things done – social media, IM, collaboration tools, you name it. It doesn’t capture all the other channels mentioned above. Webcast: Risk or Reward: Managing Compliant Communications in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Pharmaceuticals companies want to adopt and deploy new tools to improve internal and external communication with tools such as unified communications, instant messaging, collaboration tools, and even social media.  But first, they need a way to avoid sanctions through regulatory compliance, prevent litigation and lower the cost of litigation. For providers, non-compliance can lead to potential de-certification and court cases with huge fines and settlements. For insurance companies, large regulatory fines for data leakage and lawsuits over business practices are becoming common place.   The courts are raising the bar for all companies involved in the pharmaceuticals industry. Expectation around legal holds and records availability are focusing a spotlight on existing policies, procedures and systems infrastructure to better meet these strict legal requirements. Those that choose ignore it are at much greater risk of non-compliance with court orders, huge fines, loss of case and negative PR.
